What ModeMark processes

ModeMark uses macOS Accessibility information to identify whether a window in the ChatGPT desktop app on Mac is in ChatGPT or Codex mode. It inspects accessibility roles and mode-selector labels, plus window geometry, process identity, and visibility needed to place an indicator. To keep indicators behind overlapping windows, it also processes the geometry, process IDs, and stacking order of other visible windows locally on your Mac.

ModeMark does not capture screenshots or record audio or video. Its normal indicator operation does not read or store conversation transcripts, inject themes, or modify ChatGPT files. A separate developer diagnostic command can output window and accessibility titles or descriptions, which may contain conversation text. This diagnostic output is distinct from normal indicator operation; review any diagnostic material before sharing it.

Local storage and transmission

Your appearance preferences, such as enabled modes, colors, tint, and border thickness, are stored on your Mac. Temporary mode and geometry information is held locally while the utility runs.

ModeMark does not automatically send usage data or diagnostic reports to Averiz Media Group or another server. It contains no advertising, analytics, or automatic telemetry service. ModeMark does not require an Averiz account.

Choosing Copy diagnostics places the displayed status report on your clipboard. It does not send that report to us. If you paste it into an email or another service, that transmission is your choice.

Permissions and your control

macOS controls Accessibility access. You can revoke ModeMark’s permission in System Settings at any time.

You can disable either indicator, quit the utility, or turn off Launch at login. These controls do not alter your ChatGPT conversations or account.

If you contact support

When you email Averiz Media Group, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use those materials to respond to your request and investigate the issue. Our email provider also processes those messages to deliver and store correspondence.

Please send only what is needed to explain the problem. You can contact us to ask about or request deletion of support correspondence; we will respond to the request and explain any information we need to retain.

How we handle support information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with hosting, security, and email service providers that help us operate the website and respond to support requests, or when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect rights and security.

Support messages and technical logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed to provide support, resolve disputes, and comply with law. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to backup cycles and legal retention requirements.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect information. No storage or transmission system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent, and to appeal or complain to a privacy authority. These rights may be subject to exceptions, including records we must retain for legal or security purposes. Email hello@averiz.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before completing it.

The website and other services

This policy describes ModeMark. Our hosting systems may receive your IP address, request date and time, requested pages, browser or device information, referring page, and security logs. We use this information to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website. The ModeMark product, support, and privacy pages do not include analytics scripts, advertising, embedded third-party widgets, or code that sets tracking cookies. This statement applies to these ModeMark pages, not to other Averiz websites or services.

ChatGPT, macOS, the Mac App Store, and your email service have their own privacy practices. ModeMark does not control how those services process information.
